Recently I noticed that at around 50mph the trans seems to shift in and out of overdrive. Now, because my car is a '95 I do not have a tach to see what exactly the rpm's are doing. I've done alot of searching on the forums but have not been able to come up with an answer. I was thinking that it may also be the tc locking and unlocking but I'm not totally sure. As things warm up, it isn't as noticable. Everything on the car is stock and I recently changed the tps just to see if that made a difference and it has not. The fluid on the stick appears to be clean and does not smell burned and I suppose there's maybe 15,000 miles on a fluid flush and filter change. I don't race the car and only drive it in the summer as a weekend or road trip car. It has right around 92,000 on the clock. If the tc is going out what stall should I go with all else being stock. And with stock tire size should I also change the rear differential gearing to match the new converter? I know...lengthly post and lots of questions but please help. I'm headed to the car craft summer nats in two weeks and need to make sure I can get there.

TCC Regulator Valve wear is very common in the 4L60E. Might be time for a Transgo HD2 Shift Kit. The Valve Body bore should be checked for wear and can be reamed to fix the wear. Eventually you will get a P1870 code as the bore wears.

The HD2 Kit includes a new Regulator Valve that is suppose to work well even in a worn valve body.
This can all be done with the tranny in the car.

Thanks very much for an answer. I was beginning to think I had an odd problem. Now, everyone says 3.73's for the diff, but is that the best set for an otherwise stock car?

I know that when my sundial gear finally gave way due to regular wear and tear that was one of the issues, not sure if that would help but I know I had a similar problem to that

I'm having a shift kit installed tomorrow with a vette servo which should correct most of the lethargic shifting and my tranny guy says this should take care of the problem I've been experiencing. I really don't have the money for a heavier built tranny or even a rebuilt stocker.

You already have a Vette Servo (at least the stock 4L60E did have one) so don't pay for it again.

Hey Cole do you have 3.73 installed already and if so whats the difference between those and your stocks. Also I know this is the ImpalaSS forum connected to the superstore but why the heck are their prices soooo much more than everybody else's.I wanted to order the Motive 3.73 gears from the superstore and I found out that I can get the same ones from Summit for $100 less.Whats up with that if somebody could chime in with a response.
